Chirnside After reading History and Politics at the University of Melbourne, Michael Chirnside has been a decorative arts specialist and Valuer for over 15 years. His areas of specialty include the decorative arts and furniture of the Eighteenth & Nineteenth Centuries, books, silver and objets de vertu. He has worked at all levels of the valuation spectrum, ranging from deceased estates of household lots, to some of the finest private corporate and private collections in the country, and conducted probate investigations for some of Victoria's largest private estates. His past employers include Lawson-Menzies, Sydney (Australia's oldest Auction House), Gregson's, Perth and Phillips Auctions, Melbourne. Michael is a member of the Auctioneers & Valuers Association. Michael is also a member of the Australian Silver Society, and is in the process of becoming an Approved Valuer for the Cultural Gifts Programme (Decorative Arts).
